As I browse the internet, I’ve seen a lot of posts on blogs and other sites about whitening your teeth at home. The most popular way that I’ve seen is to use lemon juice and baking soda. I’m not disputing that it works or not, but want to offer a word of caution.
Lemon juice contains acid and that can put you at risk for tooth erosion. Any food or drink containing acid can be harmful to your teeth. Over time it will erode the enamel, making your teeth vulnerable to sensitivity and tooth decay. Erosion of the enamel is a leading cause of tooth decay. The money you might save by bleaching at home may not be worth the risk of future tooth decay and the cost. Think twice before you try lemon juice to whiten your teeth!
